Established in 1971 by internationally acclaimed Sharmi Wieck, one of the first women in the UK to administer Botox and fillers, Sharmi Joseph Beauty & Medical Institute is now one of the leading health & beauty salons in the UK. Combining state of the art medical and cosmetic procedures with holistic programmes, Sharmi Joseph's unique ethos is to offer treatments that compliment your entire being, offering every client a little bit of 'serendipity.'
Born and raised in Sri Lanka, Sharmi embraced the spiritual and holistic philosophies practiced by her family, but also gained an interest in the technical treatments and procedures used in the Western world.
After successfully completing an array of international training programmes, Sharmi devoted her early career to pioneering and practising the very best in high-tech medical and cosmetic treatments and procedures – initially operating out of her flagship salon in Windsor, before acquiring a clinic in Harley Street and latterly two further salons in Henley and Sunningdale.
Her expertise soon bought her quick acclaim with A-list celebrities, whilst her reputation gained her numerous appearances on primetime TV and radio programmes including Living TV's Harley Street. Sharmi is now one of the UK's leading Medical Practitioners, a registered state nurse and a specialist in the areas of cosmetic anti-ageing, Mesotherapy (eye bags & fat reduction) and Sclerotherapy (veins).
But, with an ongoing pursuit to seek out new advances, fifteen years ago Sharmi looked to the specialist experience of her daughter and now co partner, Sonja Wieck.
Like mother like daughter, Sonja also boasts an enviable track record in the cosmetic industry. Her specialist expertise in the fields of beauty, Titan (skin rejuvenation), anti-ageing and preventative anti—ageing has not also gained her a devoted celebrity following, but her cutting edge beauty techniques have seen Sonja consult with an array of stars on box office hits.
After successfully establishing a comprehensive beauty offering within the salon group, Sonja and Sharmi decided to return to the wisdom of their Eastern ancestors and revisit the ancient practices of Ayurvedic - a philosophy practised by her own family in Sri Lanka, 2008 saw the launch of the Tri Dosha Ayurvedic Therapies, a concept designed to restore harmony through massage and positive thought.
The Tri Dosha launch not only fuses their East meets West heritage, but showcases how science and nature can truly work together on a holistic level.
With Sharmi continuing to offer the latest in medical procedures and Sonja's specialist beauty techniques and holistic offering, ensures all clients not only benefit from an extensive array of over 60 treatments but, most importantly, over 65 years of internationally acclaimed experience.
Such is their quest to offer a 'one-stop-shop' of treatments, the formidable duo have also strong alliances with other leading medical practitioners including a dental practitioner and plastic surgeon. The highlight so far for 2009 is the presentation of a prestigious 'Salon of Excellence' accreditation by CACI International – the world leading non-surgical facelift specialists.
As Gemma King, CACI comments, "Sharmi Joseph has been awarded this accolade because of their internationally acclaimed reputation for excellence and ability to combine our treatments to deliver dramatic, quality results."
In a quest to keep abreast of trends and treatments, more exciting new procedures and alliances are already in the pipeline .... so watch this space. In the meantime, Sharmi, Sonja and their team of expert therapists look forward to welcoming you to their salon soon.
